PAGE RANKING FOR WEBSITES
The Google tool for Page Rankings – If you want to know where Google ranks your website
(including individual pages) there is a free tool that you can add to your toolbar. It will tell you the page
ranking of every site that you open – a good way to see just how well other sites are doing (particularly
competitors and potential customers).
If you have Internet Explorer 7 you simply go to your web site and click on the Settings icon,
then Options. Click on the tab at the top of the page that says ‘More’. Then find ‘Page Rank and Page Info’ and
tick the check box. Now there will be a tool bar appearing at the top of your website. It has a small ‘meter bar’
that will have green move across it and by holding the cursor over it you will see what the page ranking number is.
If there is no green, you do not have a ranking.
If you have Internet Explorer 8, open browser and Google search ‘Google Tool Bar’
Install Google Toolbar. When installed you will find a “spanner icon” on the far right of the Google Tool Bar –
click on it. On the left of the pop-up screen, click on the “Tools” tab
Check the box beside ‘Page Rank’. Click ‘Save’ at bottom right.
Firefox also uses the Google Page Ranking Tool and can be added to your website by following
this set of steps:
- Please note that the Google Tool Bar is not compatible with Firefox 6.0 (current version). A different Page
Rank tool can be used.
- Open Firefox and select ‘Tools’ from top menu bar.
- Select ‘Add Ons’ from drop down list. This may take some time to download due to the number of add-ons
available for Firefox.
- In the ‘Search Box’ at the top right of your screen, type in the letters PR and click search icon.
- Select ‘TYC + PR Indicator 1.3.1’ and click install.
- You will have to restart Firefox for the installation to become active.
