It is hard not to get excited by this art work. We are so used to seeing
silk painting done in a very ‘hobbyist’ style that we can forget how much strong design and an inordinate
sense of colour, texture and tone can turn an average piece of silk paining into a true work of art.
The work of this artist (Barbara Gabogrecan) is highly sought after, especially after she won 7 of the
Australian ‘Gift of the Year’ awards with her silk designs.
Barbara taught Art at the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia for 13 years part time and also taught
secondary students for over 20 years. They say that when you can’t do it, you teach it. Well, Barbara has proven
this saying a myth. How I would love to be one of her students and learn some of her skills with contour and
colour.
Check out these
designs
I love the way she stylises the organic shapes of flora and fauna into her own world of lustrous colour and
line. Her designs certainly do relate well to textiles and she has succeeded in her desire to create ‘wearable art’
at an affordable price.
I strongly recommend this product as one of the very best examples of its kind on the market. If you are looking
for that unique, high quality gift that is well packaged and suitable for posting, you cannot go past her range of
scarves.
I am only disappointed that there are only three designs to choose from.
As someone who has followed Barbara’s progress over the years, I am aware of a wide range of designs in both
product and framed paintings. I have been fortunate enough to purchase a painting from one of her sell out
exhibitions and can only wonder what the home of Coleen Hewitt (the Australian singer) looks like as she
purchased most of the paintings from Barbara’s very first exhibition.
My overall comment: highly recommended Price:
$35 and $55
You can be the proud owner of this
