Use Customer Loyalty Cards to Give Your
Business a Boost
We all want to build a client list. But to turn that list into an income, we
need to build trusting relationships. Customer loyalty cards are an inexpensive and easy way to build this all
important relationship.
“..people with Everyday Greatness are quick to exhibit everyday gratitude. They are eager to say thanks and
among to first to express praise.” Steven Covey
Do you always give a heartfelt ‘thank you’ and offer praise – even for the smallest of things? Customer loyalty
cards can do just that. These cards can be simple greeting cards to let your client know just how much you
appreciate them.
“Don’t ask for the referral. Deserve it.” Anon
We often expect a good customer to refer us to their contacts, so that we can get even more business. But what
encourages a client to offer a referral? Well you could simply ask for one, but that would be a bit crass! You
could provide such a great service that your client would want to refer you and that would be great. Combine this
with a ‘top of mind awareness’ and you really will deserve a referral. Customer loyalty cards are an inexpensive,
yet powerful way to build ‘top of mind awareness’.
Customer loyalty cards will give
you
a competitive edge
“No man can sincerely help another without helping himself” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Sometimes we hear of people promoting themselves to the point where it nearly becomes objectionable. Their
philosophy is no doubt ‘what’s in it for me?’ But change that philosophy to ‘what can I do for you’ and amazing
things will happen. Send regular customer loyalty cards and you will build a business on helping others. The
results will be that you will also be helped in return.
“Anyone that becomes a customer enters an enduring relationship and can instantly become our
friend.” Jack Mitchell
Never think of your customers as ‘just another client’; rather, work at building an enduring relationship with
them and creating a friendship. You will know when you are doing this when you can honestly say that most of your
‘friends’ are business associates. Use customer loyalty cards to build this relationship. Send a card to thank
them, to congratulate them on a milestone reached, for their birthday, when they move house or office; send a card
for any reason or for no reason at all.
“Ask not what your country can do for you: ask what you can do for your country.”
John F. Kennedy
This famous saying of JFK is repeated so many times because it really does ‘hit the spot’. We seem to constantly
expect our clients and friends to do things for us. And if they don’t, we lament that they ‘do not care’. But, if
you forget about yourself for a minute and concentrate on you doing something special for your clients – then
things really do change. Customer loyalty cards are an easy solution and make you stand out amongst your
competitors.
“The easiest way to get what you want is to help others get what they
want.” Deepak Chopra
I know many people will not believe this – but it is true. If you make other people feel special and show them
that you care, they will reciprocate. Now, not many of them will go to the level of sending out regular customer
loyalty cards – so you will still remain a leader amongst your business associates and they will notice you and
what you do!

“You can have everything you want, if you just help enough people get what
they want.” Zig Ziglar
This is another statement that many would question…after all, just how many people can you help? I suggest the
question should be ‘how many people do you know?’ – that is how many people you can help. And how can you help
them? Well, you might become a customer, refer work to them, inform them, share with them or simply let them know
that you care about them and what they do. Be sincere. Send out regular customer loyalty cards and build the
loyalty while you are building your business.
“You have to do before you can have.” Zig Ziglar
How many times do we have great ideas; set goals; write plans; make New Year resolutions etc. and then nothing
happens because we do not do anything to make something happen. If you do not take action, you cannot enjoy the
results, because there will not be any.
“A goal without a deadline is a wish” Anon
We are all pretty good at setting goals. Some of you reading this will decide to send out customer loyalty
cards. You may even send out a few, then you are likely to get busy and just forget about your goal. Put a
timeframe to your goal. Send out a card or two or three or ten – every single day of the working week. Imagine, if
you send out ten cards a week, there will be 520 people in a year that are not only very grateful but will see you
in a new light. You will have set a goal of ‘top of mind awareness’ and will have mastered a degree of attraction marketing that will give you a competitive edge.
