A Brand New Way to
Create a Unique Gift
Use Your Pets – People Will Love Them!
When you decide to make a product from home one of the things you
need to consider is how to target a specific market. There are some obvious times of the year when you aim to
sell specific items e.g. Christmas, Easter and Valentines Day. Greeting cards can fill all these roles and the
Christmas greeting card would be the most popular.
The next thing to consider is how to make your Christmas greeting card designs unique. Everyone relates to the
Christmas tree and baubles and many of the Christian themes e.g. the three wise men. To pick a unique theme can be
really challenging. Why not try using an image of your pets or baby and include Christmas props in the photo?
For your Christmas greeting card designs to be successful you will need to have a well trained dog; professional
photographer; a good printer; and quality packaging e.g. a clear cello self sealed bag to put the finished cards in
(this protects the cards and gives them a more professional look.)

A good way to decide on what product to produce is to go to the free
Google keyword tool to see what is being searched on. For example if you search on ‘greeting cards’ you will
find over 2 million others search on that keyword. But you will need a niche market with fewer than 40,000
searches to be found on the Internet.
‘Big is not better’ when selling via this medium. If you narrow it down to ‘Christmas greeting card’ around
22,000 global searches take place monthly; this is much better and will give your product a greater chance of being
found.
‘Dog greeting cards’ has a search volume of 2,400. Now if you have a specific breed, then do a search on that as
well. If there are between 1,500 and 30,000 searches per month promote your Christmas greeting card designs with
the sites that have a following for the particular breed of dog featured in your cards e.g. Dog Forums.
Think innovatively when producing your Christmas greeting card designs…..what else can you use the photos for?
Have you thought of Swap Cards? They make great Christmas stocking fillers for kids; thus giving you two products
to sell with the same Christmas theme and little or no extra work.
